If you run social for a brand right now, your job description has tripled since 2023. You're writing for X, scripting reels, batch-shooting TikTok, scheduling LinkedIn carousels, and somehow also defending the brand voice from a marketing director who keeps pasting in ChatGPT slop. Eight hours a day, four platforms, one calendar.

The good news: Claude Code skills are now where you'd want them to be. The ones below are the ones I see in actual SMM workflows in 2026 (not the hype list, the install-and-keep list). They live in your terminal, plug into your existing tools, and quietly do the work that used to take three browser tabs.

See our full list for social media managers for the paid SaaS comparison. This article is about the free, installable skills that close the gaps.

What these skills do

Claude Code skills are small markdown files (sometimes with helper scripts) that teach Claude how to do a specific job. You install them once, and from then on, "draft this week's content calendar" knows your tone, your hashtag bank, your brand colors, and your never-use list.

Each skill below is installable via claude skill add <repo-path>. You need Claude Code installed first (free tier works for testing, Pro for daily use).

1. anti-ai-slop: the one you install first

Roughly 60% of branded content posted in 2026 sounds like ChatGPT. The em-dashes, the "in today's rapidly evolving landscape" opener, the rule-of-three reader personas ("Whether you're a creator, a founder, or a marketer..."). Audiences clock it instantly and scroll past. Engagement is down across the board for any brand that didn't notice.

The anti-ai-slop skill is a 5-dimension scoring rubric plus a banned-word list plus rewrite instructions. You paste a draft, Claude scores it 0-50, and rewrites anything under 35. I run every brand caption through it before scheduling.

It catches: em-dashes, "genuinely/actually/literally," "game-changer," symmetric "good X but Y" structures, formulaic closers, "not A, not B, but C" reveals.

Install: claude skill add JarvisDiaries/anti-ai-slop

What it breaks: nothing. It's a read-only scoring tool. The only downside is once you see how slop-heavy your own writing is, you can't un-see it.

2. typefully-social: X threads without the formatting pain

Writing a thread that performs on X is a different skill than writing a LinkedIn post. The hook needs to fit in 280 chars, each follow-up has to earn the next tap, and the formatting (line breaks, no emoji, single-spaced) matters more than the words.

The typefully-social skill knows the format and the rhythm. You feed it a topic and a target length (5 tweets, 12 tweets, 20 tweets) and it drafts the whole thread with hook, payoff, and CTA. It also handles the Typefully API if you want to queue directly from Claude.

Install: claude skill add anthropics/skills/typefully-social

What it breaks: not much. The CTA suggestions skew US-centric, so if you're posting for an SEA or LATAM audience, you'll tweak the close.

3. brand-guidelines: the agency lifesaver

If you manage social for 3 or more brands, brand voice drift is your number one risk. A caption that sounds right for Brand A will sound completely off for Brand B, but after 6 hours of writing, you stop noticing.

The brand-guidelines skill loads a brand YAML file (tone, vocabulary, banned words, hashtag bank, visual style notes) and applies it to every output in that session. Switch to a different brand, switch the YAML, the voice switches.

I've seen agencies cut their brand voice review time from 30 min per post to about 4 minutes with this skill alone.

Install: claude skill add anthropics/skills/brand-guidelines

What it breaks: setup takes effort. You'll spend 2-3 hours per brand getting the YAML right. After that it's free time forever.

4. canvas-design: in-feed graphics without a designer

Canva is great, but every brand on Earth is using the same 14 Canva templates and audiences can tell. The canvas-design skill generates branded social graphics from scratch (carousels, quote cards, stat callouts, post-photo overlays) using your brand colors, fonts, and layout rules.

Output is SVG by default, which means you can edit in Figma after. For carousels especially, this is the difference between 90 minutes of design work and 12 minutes.

Install: claude skill add anthropics/skills/canvas-design

What it breaks: the SVG output sometimes needs manual tweaking for emoji rendering. Plan to do a final pass in Figma or Affinity before posting.

5. marketing-skills: the bundle

If you're new to Claude skills, the marketing-skills bundle is the right first install. It's six skills in one package: copy audit, hashtag research, caption-to-post-formats expander, content calendar generator, A/B variant maker, and an email-to-social converter.

The hashtag research alone is worth the install. It pulls live data from public hashtag aggregators and ranks them by current engagement, not the cached top-10 from 2024 that most tools still use.

Install: claude skill add anthropics/skills/marketing-skills

What it breaks: the email-to-social converter assumes you have an existing newsletter. If you don't, skip that sub-skill.

6. claude-seo: for LinkedIn and Pinterest specifically

LinkedIn and Pinterest are search platforms wearing social platform clothes. The post you write today gets discovered in 8 months because someone Googled the keyword in your hook. If you treat them like Instagram, you leave 70% of the reach on the table.

The claude-seo skill does keyword research (volume, difficulty, intent), drafts SEO briefs (E-E-A-T checklist, H1/H2 outline, internal link targets), and generates meta + schema for long-form posts. For LinkedIn newsletters especially, this is the unfair advantage.

Install: claude skill add JarvisDiaries/claude-seo

What it breaks: Pinterest's algorithm has changed twice in 2026 already. The skill's Pinterest rules lag the platform by 4-6 weeks. Treat its Pinterest output as a draft, not gospel.

7. firecrawl-skill: competitor scraping without writing scrapers

Knowing what your top 5 competitors posted this week, when they posted, and how it performed, is the input to next week's calendar. Firecrawl is a paid scraping API; the skill wires it to Claude so you can ask "what did @brand-x post on Instagram and X this week" and get a structured report back.

Costs Firecrawl credits (around $0.005 per page scraped). For 5 competitors, 3 platforms, weekly, you're looking at $4-6/mo in scraping fees. Worth it.

Install: claude skill add mendable/firecrawl-skill

What it breaks: Instagram's anti-scraping defenses are aggressive. Expect maybe 70% successful scrapes from IG. Twitter and LinkedIn are reliable.

8. remotion-video: programmatic short-form video

If you ship reels or TikToks at volume, the manual editing pipeline is the bottleneck. Remotion is a React framework for programmatic video; the skill teaches Claude how to write Remotion compositions for animated stat callouts, quote cards, list reveals, and lower-thirds.

I use this for the data-heavy reels (5 stats animated over 8 seconds). What used to take 90 minutes in CapCut now takes 4 minutes of prompting plus a 90-second render.

Install: claude skill add remotion-dev/skills (then enable the remotion-video sub-skill)

What it breaks: the learning curve is the steepest of any skill here. Budget a half-day to get your first composition rendering. After that it's drop-in.

How to install all 8 in 6 minutes

Open a terminal in your project directory:

claude skill add JarvisDiaries/anti-ai-slop
claude skill add anthropics/skills/typefully-social
claude skill add anthropics/skills/brand-guidelines
claude skill add anthropics/skills/canvas-design
claude skill add anthropics/skills/marketing-skills
claude skill add JarvisDiaries/claude-seo
claude skill add mendable/firecrawl-skill
claude skill add remotion-dev/skills

Verify with claude skill list. You should see all 8 with green checkmarks.

The honest take

If you only install one, install anti-ai-slop. The other 7 make you faster; this one is the only one that makes your output not sound like every other brand on the timeline.

If you install three, add brand-guidelines and marketing-skills. That's the trio that pays for itself in the first week.

The skill ecosystem moves fast. By Q3 2026 there will be at least 4 more I'd add to this list. Check back, or subscribe to the bestaifor.me newsletter for monthly skill drops.

FAQ

Do I need Claude Code Pro to use these? The free tier works for testing. For daily SMM use across multiple brands, you'll hit the rate limit in 2-3 hours of work. Pro ($20/mo) is the right tier for solo SMMs; Max ($200/mo) for agency operators.

Can I use these inside Cursor or Windsurf? Skills are a Claude Code feature. Cursor has Cursor Rules and Windsurf has plugins, but neither has full skill parity yet. For SMM work specifically, Claude Code is the only IDE with this ecosystem.

Are these skills safe to use with client data? Anthropic's privacy policy guarantees no training on Claude Code output. Skills run locally and only send the prompt + context to Anthropic's API. For HIPAA or financial brands, double-check your contract with Anthropic. For typical consumer brands, you're fine.

What's the difference between a skill and an MCP server? Skills are markdown + scripts that teach Claude how to do something. MCP servers are external services Claude can call (like the Firecrawl example above, which uses both a skill AND an MCP server). Most SMM workflows use skills; MCP is for live data integrations.

Can I write my own skill? Yes. Install anthropics/skills/skill-creator and follow the guide. Most SMMs have a custom skill or two by month 3, usually for their specific reporting format or a particular brand's hashtag bank.
